Paquin Helps Lead Men's Track At Division III New England Championships

Cambridge, MA --- Highlighted by sophomore Todd Paquin (Pelham, NH), the Worcester State men's track and field team scored 20 team points for 13th place on the third day of the Division III New England Championships, hosted by MIT.

Williams (151 points) edged out the hosting Engineers (147) for the title while the Lancers had the second highest points for a state school and the best finish for an institution in the MASCAC. RIC bested their total in 10th (25).

Paquin would finish in sixth place in the 200 meters (22.55) for All-New England accolades before he helped freshman teammates Devlin Crawford (Randolph, MA) and Julius White (Beverly, MA) and sophomore Julio Arzu (Lynn, MA) to fourth in the 4x100 meter relay (43.15).

In addition to earning All-New England honors, the 4x100 team eclipsed a 10-year mark that was set in 2001 at the Open New Englands (43.20).

Senior RJ Stahelski (S. Deerfield, MA) notched third in the 400 meters (49.50) and freshman Andrew Johnson (Thompson, CT) added sixth in the high jump (1.88 meters) to also score points and garner an All-New England certificate.

Rounding out the DIII honors includes the 4x400 meter relay team of Stahelski, Crawford, first-year teammates Kevin Maciel (Tewksbury, MA) and Ramses Rafael (Lawrence, MA) who timed eighth (3:24.34).

Maciel also clocked a school-record time of 55.38 for ninth place in the 400 meter hurdles. He broke the record that was previously held by John Delguidice (55.80).

Crawford recorded 11th in the 400 (50:12) and sophomore Jon Parrella (Wilmington, MA) crossed the finish line in 19th in the 400 meter hurdles (58.02).

In the field, sophomore Harrison McCann (Rutland, MA) and junior Nick Capone (Billerica, MA) were 16th (13.43m) and 23rd (12.32m) in the shot put, respectively.

The 4x800 meter relay team of posted a time of freshman Neil Reilly (Oxford, MA) and Pat Daley (Millbury, MA) along with sophomore's Kerry Sabanty (Stoughton, MA) and Tim Mazeika (Millbury, MA) came in 14th overall (4:22.71).

Select competators will compete again next week at the Open New England Championships at Southern Connecticut.

 

 




Friday's Release

Cambridge, MA --- Sophomore Todd Paquin (Pelham, NH) had a leap of seventh place in the long jump (6.78 meters) to help pace the Worcester State men's track and field team at the Division III New England Championships, hosted by MIT.

Sophomore Sebastian Bilenschuk (Mansfield, MA) also had a toss of 19th in the hammer throw (35.47m).
