Sliwoski Breaks School Record With Third At The Holy Cross Decathlon

Worcester, MA --- Junior Jason Sliwoski (Leicester, MA) placed third overall out of 19 competitors on the final day of the Holy Cross Decathlon to eclipse the school record with 6,157 points.

Sliwoski, who was just 29 points off winning the meet, had the second-best discus (122-6/37.35m), the third-highest javelin throw (159-6/48.63m) and he tied for fourth in the pole vault (12-7.50/3.85m). He also had the seventh-fastest 110 meter hurdles (16.51) and the 14th longest 1,500 (5:12.82).

With his sum today, Sliwoski broke the mark (6,113 points) that had been held by former All-New England standout Jason Monette, who set the previous record at Holy Cross in 2005. Sliwoski is now the second-highest decathlete in Division III New England and sixth in the NCAA Division III National list, just 33 points off of fifth.

On the opening day, Sliwoski put up the second-best shot put (39-10.75/12.16m), and a trio of top 10 spots in the 100 (11.46 – 8th), 400 (53.01 – 8th) and long jump (19-11.75/6.00 – 10th) while his high jump was 11th (5-9.25/1.76m).

Last outdoor season, Sliwoski earned All-Division III New England, Open New England and All-ECAC Division III accolades as his highest score was the runner-up finish at the ECACs with 6,077 points.
