Haley, Houlihan Lead the Way for Lances in Dartmouth

DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- The Worcester State men's outdoor track and field team secured a tenth-place finish on Saturday at the Corsair Classic, led by strong showings from Kyle Haley (Mansfield, Mass.) and Jack Houlihan (Holden, Mass.).

Houlihan finished fourth overall in the discus, with a mark of 39.68m, and sixth in the hammer throw, registering 39.77 meters.

Haley was sixth in the long jump (6.09m) and eighth in the triple jump (12.35m). Together the pair scored 13 of Worcester's 18 points.

The men's relay teams also scored on the day. The 4x100 relay of Haley, Anthony Paolucci (Billerica, Mass.), Brendan Sharkey (Fort Wayne, Ind.) and Giovanni Casiano took seventh place in their finals heat, finishing in 48.25 seconds.

Sharkey was also 13th in the 200 meters and 17th in the 100 meters, while freshman Brian O'Leary took 12th in the 400 meters.

Drew Fottler (Chelmsford, Mass.), Daniel Clark, Robert Doig (Ashby, Mass.) and Ethan Goodreau took eighth in the men's 4x400 relay with a finish of 3:47.49.

Doig and Goodreau finished 14th and 16th, respectively in the 800 meters, while Fottler was 11th in the 1500.

The Lancers will head to Fitchburg on Saturday, April 9th to compete at the Sheehan Invitational, hosted by Fitchburg State.
