Lancers Record Four Top-Five Finishes at Sheehan Invite

FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Worcester State men's outdoor track and field team continued their strong season with an impressive showing on Saturday afternoon at the Jim Sheehan Invitational, hosted by Fitchburg State University.

Jack Houlihan (Holden, Mass.) was the top finisher with a second place showing in the men's discus. Houlihan's throw of 39.54 meters put him on the podium in a field of 23 student-athletes.

Kyle Haley (Mansfield, Mass.) put forth a pair of top-ten showings, including a third-place finish in the triple jump with a 12.98 meters score, which qualified him for the Division 3 championships. He also took eighth overall in the long jump, with a distance of 6.06m.

A pair of Lancers set personal bests in middle and distance events. In the men's 800, Daniel Clark (Worcester, Mass.) took a fourth-place finish (2:06.01), while Elias Boone (Littleton, Mass.) was fifth in the 5000 meters with a 17:34.93 time, beating his personal best by 18 seconds.

Colin Brennan (Newbury, Mass.) and Matthew Long (East Bridgewater, Mass.) went 7-8 in the men's javelin, while Brian O'Leary (Marlborough, Mass.) finished sixth in the 400 meters and 11th in the 200-meter dash.

Worcester State is back in action on Friday, April 22nd when they head to Dedham, Mass. For the Jay Carisella Coaches Invitational.
