Jacques Sets Speed at Harvard, Youth Shines at Coast Guard

Worcester, MA- In a split meet day for the Lancers, the Men's Track and Field team competed in two different locations on Friday night with senior Brodie Jacques (Rehoboth, MA) getting into the Harvard Crimson Elite meet in the 60m competing against a wide range of DI and international talent, while the remainder of the team looked to set their marks with a trip to the Coast Guard Academy. 

 

Jacques would record and tying his personal best at 7 (6.995) seconds at Harvard claiming 38th at the competition but second in Division III.

 

In Connecticut the Lancers found equal success with speed and top marks abounding. The distance races is where Worcester shined as first year Dan Smith (Medway, MA) would take 7th in the 5,000m in a time of 17:02.73, two spots ahead of junior Alex Matsuyasu (Newton, MA) who took 9th in 18:26.58. In the 800m sophomore Kelan Mahoney (Oakham, MA) would bring home an 8th place finish in a 2:07.24 race while senior Alexander Lucier (Gardner, MA) claimed 14th just seconds behind at 2:11.96. Joining the duo was sophomore Jacksen Bolduc (Auburn, MA) in 20th at 2:15.17 and senior Brian O'Leary (Marlborough, A) in 22nd at 2:16.50. The 400m would bring junior Alan Gomez (Clinton, MA) a 27th place finish at 58.25 just edging out first years CJ Harrell (Holland, MA) in 29th at 60.02 and Patrick Harvey (Holden, MA) just a .5 of second behind at 60.53 for 30th. In the 200m, first year Yael Lopez (Milford, MA) would claim 23rd with 24.76 while sophomore Tyshawn Craigg (Springfield, MA) would claim 36th with a 25.25 finish as first year Albert Kyereme (Springfield, MA) would end the race in 38th off a 25.72. Gomez would return to the track in the 200m, finishing in 40th with a time of 25.76, alongside Harrell who claimed 44th at 26.57. Rounding out the 200 squad was junior Connor Dufault (Brookfield, MA) in 52nd with a time of 29.18.

 

In the relay circuit, Harrell, first years John Kollie (Worcester, MA), Michael Mireku (Worcester, MA) and Taku Pettengill (Shirley, MA) would claim the 5th spot in the 4x400 at a time of 3:59.07.

 

In the jumping pit, first year Jakai Bellofatto (Worcester, MA) would claim 11th in the high jump on a 1.65m leap. Fellow first year Anthonio Tyndale (Worcester, MA) would finish in 16th in the long jump on a 5.74m landing while senior Giovanni Casiano (Oxford, MA) would take 28th at 5.33m and first year James Almeida (Auburn, MA) would end the night in 29th on a 5.04m.

 

In the throwing pit sophomore Garrett Papierski (Webster, MA) would claim 9th  on a 12.67m shot put score and 12th in the weight throw on a 12.90m mark. Senior Max O'Connor (Dedham, MA) would also compete in both, claiming 18th in the shot put at 11.60m and 20th in the weight throw at 12.21m. In a first year quartet in the shot, Gavin Delgado (Douglas, MA) claimed 13th with a 12.05m, Dominic Beauchesne (Dudley, MA) took home 29th at 9.72m, Hunter Cormier (Westminster, MA) in 31st with a 9.62m and Zachary Stewart in 32nd with a 9.36m measurement. In the weight throw, sophomore Danny Butler (Tynsgboro, MA) would claim 25th with a 10.87m, just edging out Cormier in 26th at 10.79m. Junior Andrew Lucier (Garnder, MA) would wrap up the weight throw in 31st on a 10.04m toss.

 

The Lancers will be back in action next Sunday afternoon when they compete in the MASCAC Indoor Track and Field Championship.
