Jacques Claims 100m Win, Leading Lancers to Fourth at MASCAC Championship

Worcester, MA- In the long awaited season culmination the Worcester State Men's Track and Field team took to the track, pits and circles as they looked to garner a top finish at the 2025 Outdoor MASCAC Track and Field Championship. Claiming 65 points on the day, the Lancers finished in fourth and brought home championships in 100m for the second year in a row.

 

In a near repeat of last year, senior Brodie Jacques (Rehoboth, MA) and junior Seth Boudreau (Douglas, MA) would sprint it out for top finishes in the 100m, with Jacques taking home the championship in a time of 10.99 while Boudreau claimed second on a time of 11.03. Joining the pair in the finals was sophomore Tyshawn Craigg (Springfield, MA) who would take sixth with a time of 11.53. The trio would be back in action at the end of the day as they each raced it out in the 200m with Jacques grabbing third with a 22.88, just .14 milliseconds of first with Bordeaux in 10th at 23.45 and Craigg finishing 15th with a time of 23.86. First year Albert Kyereme (Springfield, MA) would claim 17th in the race with a 24.24 time.

 

In the middle distance range sophomore Kelan Mahoney (Oakham, MA) would grab points in the 800m with a time of 2:00.31 while senior Alexander Lucier (Gardner, MA) would finish in 10th with a time of 2:06.36.

 

Leading off the day for Worcester on the track was Junior Alex Matsuyasu (Newton, MA) who would take home ninth in the 10,000m with a time of 40:22.51. First year Dan Smith (Medway, MA) would take on the 5K for an 11th placement on a time of 18:01.18.

 

In the relay section of the day Boudreau, Jacques, Craigg and first year Yael Lopez (Milford, MA) would finish in second after a blistering 42.11. First year Ryan Brown (Salem, MA), Junior Alan Gomez (Clinton, MA), Mireku and Senior Brian O'Leary (Marlborough, MA) would claim fifth in the 4x400m in a race off at the finish in a time of 3:38.43. In the 4x800m sophomore Jacksen Bolduc (Auburn, MA), Alex Lucier, Mahoney and first year TakunPettengill (Worcester, MA) finished second in a time of 8:33.06.

 

Boudreau would use his speed in the jumping pits with a ninth place finish on a 6.23m while first year Anthonio Tyndale (Worcester, MA) finished in 15th on a 5.55m leap. First year Michael Mireku (Worcester, MA) would make his own mark in the sand with a third place finish in the triple jump on a 13.19m landing.

 

In the throwing circle Worcester would go sixth, seventh, eighth in the shot out as sophomore Garrett Papierski (Webster, MA) landed sixth with a 13.17m, edging out Senior Max O'Connor (Dedham, MA) in seventh with a 12.90m and first year Gavin Delgado (Douglas, MA) in eighth place with a 12.41m. The hammer throw would see the order be shaken up a bit as O'Connor finished in fifth on a 39.41m with Papierski in sixth with a 38.65m. The new addition to the mix was first year Hunter Cormier (Westminster, MA) who would finish in ninth with 31.17m. Closing out the day in the throwing circle found O'Connor taking third on a 39.34m mark in discus with Delgado finishing fourth at 38.23m and Papierski taking home 10th on a 33.50m.

 

In the final field event of the day, first year Andrew Lucier (Gardner, MA) claimed ninth in the javelin with a 40.42m distance.
