Worcester State Men's Cross Country Picked Fourth in MASCAC Preseason Poll

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men’s Cross-Country team has been picked to finish fourth in the 2023 MASCAC Preseason Coaches Poll as selected by the conference coaches. The Lancers, who were the 2021 MASCAC Champions, look to return to the top spot this season.

Grabbing the top spot in the poll was Bridgewater State with five first place votes and a total of 34 points. Westfield came in in the second spot with one first place vote and 29 points followed closely by Fitchburg State with 26 points.

Worcester claimed the final first place vote, finishing just three points behind third with 23 points. During the 2022 championship, Will Demers crossed the line in a time of 29:53, good enough for 28th.

Framingham State claimed the fifth spot with 16 points with Mass. Maritime and MCLA rounding out the field with the sixth and seventh spots at 12 and seven points respectively.

The Men’s Cross Country team kicks off their season on Saturday, September 2, when they travel to Fitchburg for the Jim Sheehan Invitational and will host the MASCAC Championship on Friday, October 27, in Devens.
