Mahoney Leads Lancers at DIII New England Championships

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men's Cross Country team took to the course in New Hampshire today to compete in the DIII East Regional hosted by Suffolk University. The Lancers were led by sophomore Kelan Mahoney (Oakham, MA) who finished in 144th place with a time of 29:32.99. Worcester recorded 792 points for 29th at the Championships.

 

Just second behind Mahoney was senior Matt Talbot (Belchertown, MA) who claimed the 147th place in a time of 29:39.32. Keeping to tradition of the season, first year Daniel Smith (Medway, MA) would be right on the pack's heels crossing in 160th in a time of 30:17.85. Just under a minute later junior Alexander Matsuyasu (Newton, MA) would cross the finish line at 31:15.29 for 181st. Closing out the top five for Worcester and just over two minutes off from the start of the Lancer pack was first year Ryan Brown (Salem, MA) in 190th with a time of 31.44.09.



WIth the close of the cross country season, the Lancers will now turn their focus to the Indoor Track and Field season with their first meet set for December 7th at Wheaton.
