With Semifinals Cancelled, Lancers to Host Amcats for ECHA Championship

WORCESTER, Mass. -- Friday evening's semifinals in the first ever Eastern Collegiate Hockey Alliance (ECHA) tournament have been cancelled due to inclement weather.

Top-seeded Worcester State and #2 seed Anna Maria will advance directly to Sunday's regularly scheduled championship game, which will be held at Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center at 3:00 PM.

Worcester State claimed the top seed in the tournament after posting a perfect 6-0 record in ECHA play. They allowed just six goals in conference play, including wins of 4-1 and 5-1 against Anna Maria. The Lancers are led by ECHA Player of the Year Clare Conway (Billerica, Mass.), who led the conference with 8 goals and 11 points in just league games. Goalie Amber Lee (Nashua, N.H.) posted a .938 save percentage on her wya to earning ECHA Goaltender of the Year accolades, while first year head coach Eliza Kelley was voted by her peers as conference Coach of the Year.

The AMCATS claimed the two-seed in the four-team tournament with a 3-2-1 record against ECHA opponents. Head coach Mike Cox's squad – which has made incredible strides in just their fourth season of existence - is led by freshman forward Jordyn Bleaney (Nanoose Bay, BC) with 14 points over 19 games.
