Jamieson and Vail Receive Nod for NEWLA Weekly Awards

Worcester, MA --- Junior teammates Brittany Jamieson and Kim Vail have been tabbed for two of the three New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) weekly awards for this past week. Jamieson has been honored as the Co-Player of the Week while Vail was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week.

Jamieson, a native of Foxboro, Mass, notched 11 points in a 2-0 week for the Lancers.  Jamieson posted a game-best six goals with a helper in a 16-14 2OT victory over Fitchburg State which included the game-winner and an extra insurance tally in the closing minutes of the triumph. In a 15-9 win over Rhode Island College she registered two goals and two assists. Jamieson is currently in second on the team in points (15) and assists (4).

Vail, a product of West Newbury, Mass, picked up seven ground balls while also causing six turnovers. In their victory over Fitchburg State, she caused four miscues and grabbed five ground balls. Through her first five games of the season Vail leads the team in ground balls with 10 while she's second in caused turnovers with five.

Worcester State is currently 3-0 on the season and 2-0 in NEWLA play under the guidance of third year head coach Deb Draper. They will take on Bridgewater State in a key conference game on Tuesday at 7 before heading to UMass Dartmouth for a non-conference game on Thursday at 7 PM and Westfield State on Saturday at 4 o'clock.
