Women's Tennis Ends Season On High Note In 6-3 Win Over Western Connecticut

Danbury, CT --- Junior Erin Desmarais (Gardner, MA), sophomore Brooke Michanczyk (Middletown, CT) and freshman Miranda Biron (Webster, MA) all posted wins in singles and doubles action to help lead Worcester State to a 6-3 victory over Western Connecticut in their season finale. The contest wrapped up the Little East Conference regular season for both squads.

The Lancers (4-9, 1-7 LEC) started off the match with two wins in doubles action. Michanzyk pairing with Biron for the 8-3 victory at second doubles while Desmaris and first-year Lisa Higgins (Pembroke, MA) won at third doubles, 8-1.

Freshman Danielle Candelieri (Chelmsford, MA) was victorious at second singles while Michanzyk won a third singles, Biron dispatched her opponent at fourth singles and Desmaris earned the triumph in the fifth flight.

Sophomore Laura Sarkis (W. Springfield, MA) shouldered the setback at six singles as she lost in a tiebreaker, 2-6, 6-3 and 5-10.

Western Connecticut (0-10, 0-8 LEC) also posted wins in first doubles and first singles.
