Wise, 4x400 Relay Paces Women's Indoor Track At Open New England's

 

Boston, MA --- Senior Briana Wise (Worcester, MA/Burncoat) earned All-New England honors with seventh overall in the 200 meters (25.03) as she helped lead the Worcester State women's indoor track and field team with 32nd place at the Open New England Championships hosted by Boston University.

The two-day meet featured top-flight competition from all three divisions from around New England as the Lancers were one of 14 different Division III schools to score at least one point.

For her efforts on Saturday, Wise was honored as the Co-Female MASCAC Track Athlete of the Week.

The 4x400 meter relay team that was comprised of junior teammates Megan Taylor (Danvers, MA) and Christy Deininger (N. Attleboro, MA), sophomore Alexandria McMahon (E. Longmeadow, MA) and freshman Emily Riehl (Trumbull, CT) took full advantage of BUs banked track and clocked a school-record time of 4:00.40 for 25th place.

The previous 4x400 time of 4:01.51 was set last season at the ECAC Division III Championships at the NYC Armory as Taylor, McMahon teamed with both sophomores Brittany Hodgerney (Leicester, MA) and Kim West (Harvard, MA) establish the mark.

Next week the select members of the Blue and Gold will compete at the ECACs which will be held at the Armory.

 


 

Friday's Recap

Boston, MA --- Senior Briana Wise (Worcester, MA/Burncoat) qualified for the finals of the 200 meters with a season-best split of 24.85 for eighth as she helped lead the Worcester State women's indoor track and field team at the Open New England Championships hosted by Boston University.

Wise, who also placed 28th with a time of 8.00 in the 60, is the only Division III competator headed to the finals in the 200.

Junior Christy Deininger (N. Attleboro, MA) added 26th in the 60 meter hurdles (9.33) and 33rd in the 60 (8.17).

Fourth-year Erin Donohue (Saugus, MA) timed 27th in the 5,000 meters and sophomore Amanda Caldarone (Danvers, MA) had a leap of 18th in the long jump (17-0/5.18m).
