Women's Indoor Track Runs Day One of New Englands

BRUNSWICK, Maine - Five members of the Worcester State University women's indoor track & field represented the Lancers Friday on the first day of the New England Championships at Bowdoin College.

In a tightly contested 4x200 meter relay, Worcester State finished in 13th place overall with a time of 1:49.79. Sophomore Emily Finnegan (Ashland, Mass.) ran of the first leg for the Lancers, followed by junior Abigail MacGregor (Salem, N.H.) and sophomores Amanda Turner (Windham, Maine) and Bernice Mensah (Worcester, Mass.).

Also competing for Worcester State on day one was senior Mia Rogers (North Dighton, Mass.). Rogers raced in the 5000 meter run, where she finished in 19th place with a time of 18:33.42.

Another strong contingent of Lancers will compete in the New England Championships on Saturday, including Mensah making an appearance in the triple jump. Freshman Gail Provo (Woburn, Mass.) will compete in the high jump, and Elisabeth Olson (Wilmington, Mass.), Kyra Siano (North Attleboro, Mass.), Ryann Molinari (Grafton, Mass.), and Courtney Guay (Londonderry, N.H.) will run the 4x800 meter relay.
