Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Women’s Outdoor Track Team finished third with 17 points in the MASCAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll, as announced Wednesday by the league.
Worcester State comes in next on the poll in third. The Lancers were the third-place team at last year’s meet. Riley Sanderson took home an individual crown in the javelin with a top heave of 42.66m. Her efforts also saw her qualify for the NCAA Championships in 2022. Leading the preseason poll was Bridgewater State with 25 points, six points ahead of Westfield State at 19 points. Fitchburg State came in fourth with 12 points, just a single pint ahead of fifth place Framingham State at 11 points. Mass. Maritime came in in final spot with 6 points.
Bridgewater State, Fitchburg State, Framingham State, Massachusetts Maritime and Worcester State begin their outdoor season on Saturday at the BSU Bears Invitational while Westfield State kicks off the season as the Wesleyan Spring Classic.
