
Worcester, MA- Head Coach Bernie Chase and the Worcester State Volleyball team are pleased to announce the addition of Amari King to this year’s coaching staff. King returns to Worcester State after an illustrious two years with the Lancers that saw her claim two MASCAC Players of the years in 2017 and 2018 and helped to lead Worcester State to back-to-back MASCAC Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances.
“I'm excited to have Amari return to Worcester State and join the coaching staff. She was a key member of two historic teams that went to the NCAA tournament and had an outstanding career both offensively and defensively” says Chase. “She brings a strong work ethic and winning attitude to the team. I believe her hard work and winning attitude will help us get back to the NCAA tournament.”
King first came to Worcester State after spending her first two seasons at Anna Maria College. Upon joining the Lancers squad in 2017, she was instrumental in their success recording 742 kills, 756 digs, 98 services aces for a .255 hitting percentage. Defensively, King recorded 56 blocks with a career 1,583 kills, a .237 hitting percentage, 171 service aces, 133 total blocks, and 1,396 digs over her four-year career. King holds top spots for several Worcester State records including currently sitting fifth all time in kills.
“I’ve gained valuable coaching experience and a new perspective since graduating” says King. “I am eager to bring that knowledge back to this team to help foster success and love for that game that I had when I was a student athlete here.”
The two-time MASCAC Player of the Year and First Team selection will commence coaching duties starting July 1st.
