Paxton, MA --- Freshman Alex Droby (Uxbridge,
MA) and Brittany Grueter (Foxboro, MA) each had
solid finishes to help lead the men’s and women’s cross
country teams yesterday at the Worcester City Cross Country meet at
Moore State Park, hosted by Worcester State College. The women
finished in fourth while the men placed fifth overall.
Grueter was the third-highest freshman finisher in seventh as she
scaled the 5k course in 21:42 while classmate Erin
Donohue (Saugus, MA) was only seven seconds behind in
ninth with a time of 21:49. Sophomore Meghan Plant
(Franklin, MA) also improved as she added 11th (22:10) while
second-year Molly Gates (Worcester, MA/Doherty)
and freshman Kristina Richard (Peabody, MA) placed
22nd (23:26) and 28th (23:47), respectively. Senior
Adrienne Fisher (Wilmington, MA) notched 38th
(24:35) while freshman Nicole Bodreau (S. Windsor,
CT) rounded out the top seven for the Lancers as she came in 40th
with a time of 24:35.
Droby clocked the third best rookie time as he placed 13th
(28:54) classmate Tim Mazeika (Millbury, MA)
registered 20th with a time of 29:11 (fifth best freshman time).
The rest of the men’s finishers were Justin
Hunt (Rutland, MA) in 39th (31:32), Norman
Everett (W. Bridgewater, MA) in 47th (31:51) and
Greg Babiec (Worcester, MA/Doherty) in 48th
(32:05).
Worcester State will compete next weekend at the Tri-States
Invitational hosted by CCRI.
