Women's Cross Country Finishes Third At MASCAC Championships

Worcester, MA --- Freshman Ali Barrett (Hingham, MA) placed seventh overall with a time of 20:00.64 for All-Conference honors to help lead the Worcester State women's cross country team to a third place finish at the MASCAC Championships on the 5k Stanley Park course hosted by Westfield State.

Westfield State beat out Bridgewater State for the top spot as the Owls scored 32 points to the Bears 41 to capture their 14th crown as the Lancers came in third with 58 points followed by Salem State (139) and Framingham State (153).

Sophomore Erin Donohue (Saugus, MA), freshman Jenna Pickard (Peabody, MA) and second-year Brittany Grueter (Foxboro, MA) each clocked 11th (20:18), 12th (20:20) and 13th (20:22), respectively, while freshman Kelsey Cartwright (Bridgewater, MA) tallied 15th (20:34).

Junior Maura Withington (W. Palm Beach, FL) recorded 20th (20:47) as freshman Christine Schaffer (Atkinson, NH) was 11 seconds off in 22nd with a time of 20:58. Third-year Meg Plant (Franklin, MA) rounded out the group in 29th (21:36).

The Lancers will compete again next weekend at Moore State Park in Paxton, MA at the New England Alliance Championships on homecoming weekend.
