
Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Women’s Cross-Country team has been picked to finish fifth in the 2023 MASCAC Preseason Coaches Poll as selected by the conference coaches. The Lancers return a depth of talent and welcome a range of new talent to the team as they look to grab the top spot at the MASCAC Championships this fall.
Grabbing the top spot in the poll was Westfield State with six first first place votes and a total of 36 points. Bridgewater State claimed the second spot with one first place vote and 28 points followed closely by Fitchburg State with 27 points. Framingham State rounded out the top four with 21 points.
Sitting in fifth place is Worcester State with 17 points. At her first MASCAC Championship, Leah Berg covered the 5k course with a time of 22:14, good enough for 40th place.
Mass. Maritime and MCLA rounded out the field with the sixth and seventh spots at 12 and seven points respectively.
The Women’s Cross-Country team kick off their season on Saturday, September 2, when they travel to Fitchburg for the Jim Sheehan Invitational and will host the MASCAC Championship on Friday, October 27, in Devens.
