Worcester State Football Announces 2024 Schedule

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Football program, headed up by fifth-year Head Coach Adam Peloquin, officially announced their 2024 Football schedule. The Lancers aim to improve upon their 1-9 record from last season with the help of a seasoned team of veterans. Offensively the Lancers will be guided by the fast-acting feet of senior Nico Holmes along with all five returning starting offensive linemen from last season to help support a strong ground game this season. On defense, Worcester will be helmed by senior fourth year captain John McMasters, who is set to continue as a middle linebacker come the start of the new season, alongside fellow captain, and senior Jayden Caron. Joining McMasters and Caron on defense are seniors Eben Ankomah Gyau and Jamison Metcalf who are primed for breakout season this year.

 

The 2024 schedule will see some new returning games paired with a couple of new additions to the Lancers schedule from last season with just a single non-conference opponents to partner along with the new additions to the MASCAC football conference this season. There is an even split of five games to be hosted at John Coughlin Memorial Field, and the remaining five games will see Worcester travel within conference to round out their 10-game schedule.

 

The team kicks-off their season with Friday night lights special home opener with cross-town rivals, WPI, on September 6th. Worcester will remain at home for their next outing as they host Plymouth State, Saturday, September 14th, before traveling to their lone away game of September on the 21st as they journey to take on Fitchburg State.

 

Saturday, September 28th, will see the Lancers return to Coughlin Field to celebrate homecoming weekend in conjunction with the 150th anniversary of Worcester State and this year’s Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Worcester State will take on the Owls of Westfield State at 2:30pm following a Men’s Soccer battle at 11am to begin the weekend.

 

October will start with the Lancers on the road to Bridgewater State on October 5th before heading into their bye week as they prepare for the mid-month home battle of UMass-Dartmouth on the 19th. The Blue and Gold will then be back in travel mode on October 26th, as they head south to take on Western Connecticut.

 

November will see Worcester State welcome new conference foe, Castleton State, to the MASCAC schedule with a trip North on November 2nd before hosting Mass. Maritime on the 9th in this year’s senior game, played in honor of the contributions and accomplishments of the Lancer football’s senior class.  The month will conclude the regular season for Worcester State as the team travels down rt.9 to Framingham State to take on the Rams.

 

“Players and coaches are excited for the 2024 season,” says Peloquin. “We have a large senior class and strong veteran presence in the locker room. After a productive spring season, our expectations are high heading into the fall. We are excited to get to work in August.”
