Men's Track Takes Third Place At MASCAC Championships

 

Men's Outdoor Track Jumps Up To Seventh In USTFCCCA New England Regional Composite Index Rankings

 

N. Dartmouth, MA --- Senior Ramses Rafael (Lawrence, MA) won the 400 (50:35) and led off the winning 4x400 meter relay as he helped propel the Worcester State men's track and field team to third place at the MASCAC Championships this afternoon hosted by UMass Dartmouth.

The Lancers registered 150 team points overall and 84 in the New England Alliance standings to finish in fifth out of 11 teams.

The 4x100 team of junior Duy Truong (Worcester, MA/Doherty), senior Todd Paquin (Pelham, NH), junior Matthew Alley (Milford, MA) and classmate Terrence Gibson (Rockland, MA) were the lone Alliance winner for the Blue and Gold with an outstanding time of 41.84 for a new meet record.

Ramses, freshman Jared Barros (Taunton, MA), freshman Shane McKinley (Melrose) and junior anchor Stephen Gannon (Foxboro, MA) teamed for a 4x400 split of 3:24.11 as the top MASCAC team.

Paquin was also second in the 100 (10.89) and 200 (22.35) as Truong nabbed runner-up spots in the 110 meter hurdles (15.50) and the long jump (20-4/50/6.21m).

Other strong performances in the field included senior Shawn McCabe (Mansfield, MA) who claimed second in the hammer (138-10/42.31m) and junior Matthew Begley (E. Bridgewater, MA) who was second in the javelin (168-4/51.31m).
