Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men's Cross Country team begins their 2024 season today as they take to the course at Keene State for the Keene State Invitational. The Lancers are looking to start strong this season as they begin their bid for a MASCAC title. The Lancers would close out the meet against a slew of top competitors with 185 points running at an average of 18:37.39 for the 5k meet.
Worcester State ran in a very packed mentality on the day with the top finishers all under a minute between them. Sophomore Kevin Mahoney (Oakham, MA) would take the top spot for Worcester, crossing in 34th in a time of 18:23.89, just edging out first year Dan Smith (Medway, MA) who crossed in 36th 1t 18:34.87. Sophomore Jacksen Bolduc would nab the third finish for Worcester in 37th in a time of 18:39.57, just second ahead of senior Matt Talbot (Belchertown, MA) at 18:42.20. Closing out the top five and point collectors for the Lancers was junior Alex Matsuyasu (Newton, MA) with the 40th position on the morning.
The Lancers are next back in action on September 21st when they head to UMass-Dartmouth for the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational.
