O’Keefe Chosen To Participate In NEWBA Senior All-Star Classic

 

O'Keefe Featured In Quaboag Current - "O'Keefe Takes Home MASCAC Player (of the Year) Crown"

Northampton, MA --- Senior standout Meaghan O'Keefe (Warren, MA) has been selected to participate in the annual New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Senior All-Star Classic in a vote by the regions head coaches earlier this week.

Overall 22 fourth-year student-athletes representing each of New England's eight Division III conferences were chosen to participate for the contest, which will be held on March 23 at Western New England University at 1 PM.

O'Keefe, who was honored as this years MASCAC Player of the Year and on the All-MASCAC first-team, was one of four from the league to be chosen to play in the prestigious game.

Other representatives included Michaela Cosby (Walpole, MA) of Bridgewater State, Lucy Tremblay (E. Greenbush, NY) of MCLA and Jenny Bell (Northampton, MA) of Westfield State.

O'Keefe finished the season leading the MASCAC in rebounding (12.6) and total blocks (43) while she was also third in average points (15.8 PPG) and top five in the conference in field goal percentage, three-point field goal percentage and free throw percentage.

Through this past week, O'Keefe is ranked ninth in Division III in both average and total boards (328) while she is one of six in New England with 17 or more double-doubles.

Under the direction of 19th year head coach Karen Tessmer, the Lancers finished the season at 13-13 and at 9-3, they were second place in the final MASCAC regular season standings. The Blue and Gold were defeated by Westfield State in the league semifinals.
