Worcester State Women's Ice Hockey Releases 2023-24 Schedule

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Women’s Ice Hockey team, heading into their third season under the leadership of Head Coach Eliza Kelley, announce their 2023-24 season schedule. The Lancers will continue in the ECHA conference this season, which will see the removal of Assumption University to the DI ranks, but the addition of MCLA to the rotation. The Lancers will look to continue their dominance in the conference and walk away with their third championship in their three seasons. Worcester State will be led by seasoned veterans, ECHA 2nd Team selection Cassidhe Wozniak and ECHA 1st Team selection and captain Katie Puumala, along with a depth of talent in both their returning core from last season and a wealth of incoming talent into the program.

“I'm really excited about the group that we have this year. We are strong in all three position groups and hungry to come together and compete as a unit” says Kelley. “As we look towards the upcoming season, we are ready to get to work and continue building the tradition of competitive women's hockey at the University”.

The Lancers kick off their season in mid-October with dual travel trips to Southern Maine on October 21st before journeying to UMass Boston on the 27th. The Blue and Gold open their home schedule on October 28th as part of the Worcester State Homecoming excitement, when they host Curry College at the Fidelity Bank Ice Center. The Lancers will remain at home to begin their conference schedule when they welcome ECHA finalists, Anna Maria, to town on November 4th. The Lancers will then host Castleton on the 10th before a home-and-away conference series with Rivier that will see Worcester on the road for November 11th before returning to home ice on the 15th. An additional home-away series saw the Lancers square up for the first time with MCLA with the first meeting between the two occurring in North Adams on the 17th and the first in Worcester the following day. Worcester will then be back on the road on the 21st as they travel to Utica to close out their November game schedule.

December will see Worcester with a three-game month as they host Johnson and Wales on the 8th, with road trips breaking up the date on the 2nd to Anna Maria and the final game of the 2023 portion a trip to New England College on the 9th.

The second half of the season schedule will have the Lancers begin with a four-game travel stretch that will send them to Western New England on January 6th, Curry on the 9th and a two-game weekend at Arcadia on January 12th and 13th. Worcester returns to Fidelity Bank on the 16h, hosting New England College prior to puck drops on the 20th versus Western New England and February 2nd versus Rivier, which will see the Lancers conclude their season with a conference swing of games.

Concluding the season will be a February 3rd trip back to Rivier, before two game splits with MCLA and Anna Maria. February 9th will see Worcester traveling west before welcoming MCLA back to Worcester on the 10th. February 16th will not only be the last home game of the regular season but will also serve as senior night for the program, as they honor the contributions of the class before concluding their season the following day at Anna Maria.
