Three Lancers Claim MASCAC Weekly Awards

WESTFIELD, Mass. - Worcester State University junior Eddy Acuna (Newton, Mass.) and freshmen Madison Brennan (Pomfret, Conn.) and Andrew Miller (Naples, Fla.) have all received weekly awards from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, brought to you by GEICO.

Acuna was named the MASCAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Field Athlete of the Week after turning in a solid performance at the Penmen Relays on Saturday, hosted by Southern New Hampshire University. Acuna finished second overall in both the shot put, with a throw of 14.29 meters, and in the discus throw, with a heave of 44.12 meters.

Brennan earned MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week honors for the second time this season on Monday. She netted seven goals and added two assists for nine points in two games this week, scooping up 11 ground balls and eight draw controls as the Lancers went 1-1.

Miller grabbed his second MASCAC Baseball Rookie of the Week Award on Monday, but was also named the MASCAC Player of the Week for the first time this year. Miller batted .435 on the week with two doubles, three home runs, six runs scored, 10 runs batted in, and a slugging percentage of .913. The freshman hit safely in all seven games this week, with an RBI in all but one game.
