Eddie Hassell Claims Third WACBA Rookie of the Week Crown

WORCESTER, Mass. - One day after being named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for the fourth consecutive time, Worcester State University men's basketball freshman Eddie Hassell (Milton, Mass.) has been named the Worcester Area College Basketball Association Rookie of the Week for the second week in a row.

Hassell averaged six points, four rebounds, and a steal in two games last week for the Lancers. He finished with eight points and seven rebounds in the 82-81 setback to Salve Regina University on Saturday and added four points, two steals and a rebound in a 69-68 loss to Skidmore College on Wednesday.

Hassell's honor is the sixth WACBA weekly award for the Lancers so far in just five weeks this season, and Worcester State trails only Holy Cross (nine) for the most overall awards so far this season. Sophomore Chris Cardoso (Jamaica Plain, Mass.), senior Kaitlyn Berkel (Waterford, Conn.), and freshman Calli Korbey (Hopkinton, Mass.) have all also been honored this season.

Hassell and his men's basketball squad return to the court on Tuesday evening with a matchup against Becker College. Tip-off from the Leicester Gymnasium is slated for 6 p.m.
