Field Hockey's Jess Hopkins and Cassidy Windler Earn LEC Weekly Honors

PAWTUCKET, R.I. - Worcester State field hockey sophomore Jess Hopkins (Chelmsford, Mass.) and senior Cassidy Windler (Holden, Mass.) have each earned weekly awards from the Little East Conference. The announcement came from the league office on Monday afternoon.

Hopkins closed out the regular season with a five-save effort in Worcester State's 3-1 win over Western Connecticut State on Saturday to earn LEC Goalkeeper of the Week honors, and help her team clinch the top seed in this week's conference tournament. Hopkins finished the regular season leading the LEC with a goals against average of 1.04.

Windler provided a crucial defensive save for the Lancers in Saturday's regular season championship clinching win over Western Connecticut, earning LEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors. With her team leading by a goal early in the fourth quarter, Windler stopped a Colonial shot on the goal line, keeping her team on top in the eventual win.

The Lancers will begin the LEC Tournament by hosting UMass Dartmouth on Tuesday evening at Coughlin Field. The game is slated for a 7 p.m. start.
