Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Athletics department is proud to partner with the NCAA and Division III to celebrate this years DIII Week. Division III Week is a positive opportunity for all individuals associated with a Division III institution to observe and celebrate the impact athletics and student-athletes have on campus and in the surrounding community. During the week, every Division III school and conference office is encouraged to conduct an outreach activity that falls into one of three categories: academic accomplishment, athletic experience, or leadership/community service/campus involvement. Division III Week is a strategic initiative that achieves its desired impact from a unity of effort. It harnesses everyone working toward the same goal at the same time to build a greater awareness and understanding of Division III athletics.
DIII week began on Monday, April 1st, and typically runs until the following Sunday (this year April 7th) but Worcester State Athletics has elected to extend the celebrations until April 10th this year.
The true essence of Division III athletics is the full integration of our student-athletes into the campus culture. Therefore, in addition to primary participation and organization by the athletics administration and student-athletes, Division III Week could involve the president, faculty, student body, admissions, student affairs and alumni, which is just what Worcester State has planned this year.
Starting on April 4th, the Lancers will take over the MASCAC Instagram page to highlight the life of a DIII athlete at Worcester State with a currently scheduled Softball double header set for 4pm that will serve as their Game Changers game that invites all faculty and staff to attend the game to be honored for their support to DIII Athletics. Friday, April 5th, the Worcester State Lacrosse team is hosting a clinic for members of the Worcester State community. April 9th and 10th are currently set as the game changer games for Baseball, April 9th at 3:30pm and Lacrosse and Track and Field on April 10th at 5pm.
