Lancers Field Hockey Teams Up with Tahanto Regional Schools

BOYLSTON, Mass.— Last week, the Worcester State University Women’s Field Hockey team participated in its 3rd annual field hockey clinic with the JV and varsity field hockey teams at Tahanto Regional High School.

Worcester State head women’s lacrosse coach, Deb Draper, is also the Tahanto Regional High School Field Hockey coach and gathered 30 of her field hockey players in the Tahanto region. The girls that participated ranged from 6th through 12th grade.

“My high school girls always get really excited when the Worcester State girls come out,” said Draper. “They really get a lot out of it and the girls make it a fun afternoon.”

To open up the clinic, the ladies started with a game of shipwreck, an icebreaking activity to get the games going. Then, for two hours the teams went through different stations, which included, hitting, possession, shooting, 3D skills, and defense.

Once the stations were over, everyone met back up for a relay race, which was a nice way to conclude the outing.

The Lady Lancers field hockey have started their season last week, and they look to improve upon their record tomorrow when they will face up against Anna Maria College on the road for a 4 p.m. game.
