Worcester State Athletics Announces Spring 2016 Lancer Selects

WORCESTER, Mass. -- The Worcester State University Athletic Department is eager to announce the Lancer Selects broadcasts for the 2016 spring sports season. The Lancer Selects program broadcasts specific Lancers home athletic contests (Lancer Selects) via webcast with a higher quality camera and audio system. 

 

“We are happy to provide the opportunity for our student interns to develop great, hands-on experience broadcasting live athletic events," commented Director of Athletics, Michael Mudd. "At the same time, our alumni, parents and friends of Worcester State get to watch the Lancers in action through a high quality webcast."

 

Listed below are the upcoming Lancer Selects games:

 

Tuesday, April 5

Baseball vs. Brandeis @ 3:00 p.m.

Game will be played at Lyons Diamond

 

Saturday, April 9

Softball vs. Westfield State @ 12:00 p.m.

Game will be played at Rockwood Park

 

Saturday, April 16

Women’s Lacrosse vs. Framingham State @ 1:00 p.m.

Game will be played at John F. Coughlin Memorial Field

 

Monday, April 18

Softball vs. Framingham State @ 12:00 p.m.

Game will be played at Rockwood Park

 

Tuesday, April 26

Baseball vs. Fitchburg State @ 2:00 p.m.

Game will be played at Lyons Diamond

 

Wednesday, April 27

Women’s Lacrosse vs. Mass. Maritime @ 7:00 p.m.

Game will be played at John F. Coughlin Memorial Field

  

Lancer Selects will continue to feature select contests in the upcoming fall season. These will be announced at a later date.

 


MEET OUR BROADCASTERS:

David Rixham, a native of Northbridge, Mass., is a senior at Worcester State University and is currently pursuing a degree in communications with a concentration in journalism. Rixham has been involved with Worcester State Athletics since 2012 as a member and captain of the golf team. Rixham has been involved in public address announcing at Northbridge High School since 2006, announcing football, soccer, field hockey, and basketball games. He is looking forward to this semester and being the voice of the Worcester State Lancers for the fall of 2015.

 

"Ever since I was four years old, I knew I had to do something in sports," said Rixham. "Talking about sports and informing audiences about what is going on at field level has been a dream of mine since I enrolled in college. This opportunity is the one I've been looking for to jump start my career."

 

Daniel Reidy, a native of Worcester, Mass., is a sophomore at Worcester State University and is presently pursuing a communications degree with a concentration in media broadcasting and a minor in business.  Along with playing baseball and football in high school, Dan is a lifelong fan of all sports. He is very excited for this opportunity and hopes to get into a career in sports broadcasting upon graduation in 2018.
