Buzzards Bay, MA --- 56 Worcester State student-athletes have been named to the 2010 MASCAC Spring All-Academic Team as announced by Media Relations Director Jim Seavey. Nearly 340 total student-athletes were named by the conference as the Lancers had the second-most student-athletes earn the prestigious accolade.

To be named to the all-academic squad a student-athlete must have achieved a 3.20 cumulative or semester based grade point average during the fall semester. The conference recently changed its format for announcing its All-Academic Team, as the MASCAC honors student-athletes for their achievements in the classroom on three occasions during the course of the academic year in fall, winter and spring.

"We are proud of the academic success of our student-athletes on both the playing field and in the classroom," said Director of Athletics Sue Chapman.

Westfield State had the most with 71 followed by Worcester State as Fitchburg State and Salem State had 55 members each.

Entering its 39th year of existence, the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference is comprised of eight NCAA Division III member institutions:  Bridgewater State College, Fitchburg State College, Framingham State College, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State College, Westfield State College and Worcester State College.
