Buzzards Bay, MA --- Sophomore Nick Fluegge
(Ware, MA) and junior Mike Borowiec (Spencer, MA)
have been tabbed as this weeks MASCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week
and MASCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week, respectively for their
performances in a 5-1 week for Worcester State.
Fluegge batted .667 (14-for-21) with four homers, eight runs scored
and 10 RBIs over the course of the week which included four hits in
a 15-1 win over Fitchburg State to go with a homer, two hits and
three runs scored in an 18-9 victory over MCLA.
As of Sunday, Fluegge was currently first on the team in
RBIs with 29 while also being second in slugging (.763), second in
homers (8), fourth in total hits (22) and fifth in batting average
(.382). In the MASCAC he is second in home runs, fourth in RBIs and
sixth in total bases (58).
Borowiec, who picks up his second player of the week distinction
this season, tossed a complete game five-hit shutout in a 2-0
victory over the Trailblazers. Tossing 82 pitches in his sixth
outing of the season, Borowiec (3-1) fanned five and did not walk a
batter.
As of Sunday, Borowiec is tied for first in innings pitched
(35) among starters while he is also second on the team in earned
run average (2.57) and tied for second in strikeouts (27). Borowiec
is eighth in the MASCAC in innings pitched.
The Lancers, who are currently at 21-10 and 10-0 in the MASCAC,
will take on Framingham State tomorrow in a conference twinbill at
1 PM.
