Coach of the Year Hundley Highlights Men's Basketball All-Conference Selections

WESTFIELD, Mass. - Worcester State University men's basketball head coach Tyler Hundley was named Champion's Choice Coach of the Year, while three Lancers took home All-Conference honors as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its end of year awards on Wednesday afternoon.

Senior Tyler Dion (Barre, Mass.) was selected to the MASCAC's First Team All-Conference, while juniors Erik Bjorn (Holden, Mass.) and Chris Cardoso (Jamaica Plain, Mass.) each earned spots on the Second Team.

In just his second year at the helm, Hundley led the Lancers to an overall record of 15-12 with a conference record of 10-2 to earn a share of the MASCAC Regular Season Championship for the first time since 2000. Worcester State reached the MASCAC Championship game for the ninth time in program history, and first since 2017.

Dion was Worcester State's leading scorer in the 2019-20 season, averaging 16.5 points per game in 26 games played, and ranked second in the conference with a three-point percentage of 46.6 percent. In conference games, Dion connected on 51.5 percent of his three-point attempts to lead the league. He reached the 1,000-point plateau for his collegiate career against Williams on November 15.

Bjorn was the MASCAC's second-leading rebounder on the season, averaging 10.8 boards per game. With 12.4 points per game, he was one of only three players in the conference to average a double-double on the season, joining MASCAC Player of the Year Hakeem Animashaun of Salem State and fellow Second Team selection Rayshon Ward of Bridgewater State.

Cardoso finished as Worcester State's second leading scorer this season, averaging 15.9 points per game, while also averaging 8.6 rebounds per game to finish fifth in the MASCAC. Cardoso's strong numbers were even more impressive in conference games, where he averaged a double-double with 17.4 points and 10.3 rebounds per game.

Dion earns his All-Conference nod for the second consecutive season, as he was named to the Second Team All-MASCAC in 2019. Hundley, Bjorn, and Cardoso each earn their first honors.
