Brier, Fant Collect MASCAC Ice Hockey Player, Goalie of the Week Accolades

Buzzards Bay, MA --- Freshman Cody Brier (Marlboro, MA) and junior Taylor Fant (Denver, CO/Boulder Bison) have been named MASCAC Men's Ice Hockey Player and Goalkeeper of the Week, respectively, for their efforts in a 2-0-1 week for Worcester State.

For Brier, it marks the second time in his young career that he has been awarded weekly laurels as he was also honored after leading the Blue and Gold to the Worcester City Shootout crown on November 26.

Brier netted a pair of goals including the game-winning marker in a 4-3 victory over first place Plymouth State and collected an assist on the match clinching tally in a 6-2 triumph over Fitchburg State.

The standout freshman is currently tied for fourth among rookies in the MASCAC with six goals while his nine points are tied for ninth in the conference.

Fant proved to be too much for first-place Plymouth State as he stopped 34 of the 37 shots he saw en route to the 4-3 victory in his only start of the week.

In their triumph over the Panthers, Fant earned his first win of the season as he has a .873 save percentage to go with a 4.55 goals against average in eight starts this season. Fant has been handed the setback in three one-goal contests on the campaign.

The Lancers are currently 6-10-1 overall and 3-7-1 in MASCAC action and with only one game this week the Blue and Gold travel to Salem State on Saturday with face-off scheduled for 2 PM.
