Romeo's Two Goals Get Men's Soccer Their First Win

PAXTON, Mass.- Santino Romeo grabs two goals to putWorcester State men's soccer up 3-2, over Anna Maria College for their first win of the season on Tuesday evening at Carposo Field.

The Lancers improve to 1-4-1 with the win, while the AMCATS fall to 0-6-1.

Jemal Mohamud (Worcester, Mass.) had a solo breakaway beating a defender to grab his first goal of the season and put Worcester State on top 1-0, 39 minutes into play. The first half the AMCATs had 12 shots, but none of them went in, while Worcester State had 8.

The AMCATS came out strong from the locker room when Rubelsi Moran (Holden, Mass.) put one past the Lancers' goalkeeper, Andy Ramirez (Waltham, Mass.). Aidan McFadden (Holbrook, Mass.) put Anna Maria on top with a goal off a corner kick. Santino Romeo (Sutton, Mass.) got his first goal of the night unassisted to tie the game. Three minutes later Alexander Papageourgiou (Tewksbury, Mass.) assisted Romeo's second goal of the game to get the Lancers' their first win of the season.

Ramirez ended the night with 10 saves, while Kyle Sherman (Mount Laurel, N.J.) had eight in the loss.

Worcester State returns to the field on Saturday to face Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference rival, Fitchburg State. Kickoff is slated for 11 a.m.
