Paquin Leads Men's Indoor Track At MIT Co-Ed Invitational

Cambridge, MA --- Sohomore Todd Paquin (Pelham, NH) had a leap of second place in the long jump (6.45 meters) to qualify for the Division III New England Championships as he helped pace the men's indoor track and field team at the MIT Co-Ed Invitational on Saturday.

The non-scoring meet featured competition from around the region including Division II Saint Rose.

Freshman Devlin Crawford (Randolph, MA) continued his solid winter as he timed second in the 400 meter dash (51.30) and fourth in the 200 (23.26) while second-year Julio Arzu (Lynn, MA) notched fourth in the 55 (6.82). Rookie Kevin Maciel (Tewksbury, MA) added eighth in the 400 (54.43) and ninth in the 200 (23.89) as Paquin tallied ninth in the 55 (6.87).

Sophomore Tim Mazeika (Millbury, MA) notched third in the 800 (2:01.87) to pace the distance group as senior RJ Stahelski (S. Deerfield, MA) finished fourth in the 600 (1:25.68) before the pair the pair teamed with Crawford and Maciel to run third in the 4x400 meter relay (3:34.08).

Freshman Brian Espinosa (Rehoboth, MA) chalked up third in the long jump (6.38m) and eighth in the triple jump (12.17m) as classmate Andrew Johnson (Thompson, CT) scaled 1.88 meters in the high jump.

Second-year Harrison McCann (Rutland, MA) tossed fifth in the weight throw (13.73m) and 12th in the shot put (12.29m) while junior Nick Capone (Billerica, MA) tallied a season-best distance in the weight throw (12.98m) and 11th in the shot put (12.29m).

Sophomore Shawn McCabe (Mansfield, MA) finished off the meet as he placed 13th in the shot put (11.78m).

Next week the Lancers will compete in the second Tufts Invitational as a warm-up before the MASCAC/New England Alliance Championships.
