Indoor Track & Field Wraps Up Season at Tufts National Qualifier

MEDFORD, Mass. - The Worcester State University men's and women's indoor track & field team wrapped up its 2020 season on Saturday afternoon, competing in the Tufts National Qualifying Meet.

On the men's side, sophomore Kyle Haley (Mansfield, Mass.) was the only Lancer to compete on the afternoon, taking part in the triple jump. He placed third in the event with a leap of 12.85 meters.

Four Lancer women took part in the meet, with a trio of sprinters competing in both the 60 and 200 meter dashes. Senior Abigail MacGregor (Salem, N.H.) finished fourth in the 60, running a blazing college best 7.88 seconds. Freshmen Maureen Grady (Douglas, Mass.) and Elena Pellegrini (Ashland, Mass.) took fifth and eighth in the event respectively with times of 7.91 and 8.18 seconds. 

In the 200 meter dash, MacGregor placed third at 25.82 seconds, while Pellegrini was ninth and rookie Avonia Herbert (Sharon, Mass.) was 11th.

Grady and Herbert also each competed in a jumping event on the day as well. Grady was the fourth place finisher in the long jump at 5.25 meters, while Herbert took 10th in the triple jump at 10.51 meters.
