Men's Highlights From Jim Sheehan Invitational

Fitchburg, MA ---Senior Mark Johnson (Woburn, MA) took a top finish in the javelin throw with a toss of 50.06 meters as the men's outdoor track and field team tied for 10th at the Jim Sheehan Invitational hosted by Fitchburg State.

Southern Maine took home the title with 147 points while Bates tallied 138 and UMass Dartmouth notched 106. The Lancers collected 21 team points as they tied with Colby.  

Senior Chris Mancuso (Rowley, MA) finished fifth in the 800 meter run (2:02.06) while freshman Nicholas Capone (Billerica, MA) threw sixth place in the shot put (11.19 m) to round out WSC's top 10 finishes.

Johnson also took 11th in the shot put (11.19 m) while first-year Nathan Hawkins (Westminster, MA) recorded 12th in the hammer throw (32.52 m). Freshman Ian Fields (Shrewsbury, MA) sprinted to 13th place in the 100 (12.12) while sophomore Robert Stahelski (S. Deerfield, MA) timed 17th in the 400 (53.64).

Next week Worcester State travels to Northeastern on Saturday as they are two weeks away from the MASCAC/New England Alliance Championships.
