Stahelski, White, Maciel Lead Men’s Outdoor Track At MIT Spring Invitational

Cambridge, MA --- Senior RJ Stahelski (S. Deerfield, MA) and freshmen teammates Julius White (Dorchester, MA) and Kevin Maciel (Tewksbury, MA) all placed first in their respective events to help lead the Worcester State men's outdoor track and field team at the non-scoring MIT Spring Invitational.

Stahelski timed first in the 400 (50.30), Maciel sprinted to first in the 400 meter hurdles (57.22) and White recorded a top finish in the triple jump (12.32 meters).

Freshman Luke Curtis (Dudley, MA) qualified for the Division III New England's in the 100 with a time of 11.33 in fourth before sophomore Todd Paquin (Pelham, NH) added his list to the DIII qualifiers with 22.40 in the 200. Curtis also notched 13th in the 200 (23.33) as Paquin was fifth in the 100 (11.38).

The 4x100 meter relay team of Paquin, Curts, sophomore Julio Arzu (Lynn, MA) and freshman Randy Joseph-Jones (Beverly, MA) added a runner-up time of 44.65

In addition to finishing the meet placing sixth 200 (22.84), Stahelski would help team with Maciel, and freshman teammates Devlin Crawford (Randolph, MA) and Ramses Rafael (Lawrence, MA) to clock third in the 4x400 meter relay.

White would finish the meet 11th in the 100 (11.65), 14th in the long jump (5.16m) and 18th in the 200 (23.84) as Joseph-Jones placed fourth in the triple jump (11.70m), sixth in the long jump (5.72m), 10th in the 200 (23.20) and 13th in the 100 (11.69).

Rafael was ninth in the 400 (52.06) and 12th in the 200 (23.28) while Arzu had a time of 11.67 in the 100. Crawford also posted a solid time of 2:05.48 for 21st in a deep 800 field of competitors.

In the center of the track, the Lancers were once again propelled by the efforts of freshman Andrew Johnson (Thompson, CT) in the high jump, who placed second overall (1.86m) as sophomore Harrison McCann (Rutland, MA) was fifth in the shot put (12.93m), ninth in the hammer (39.93m) and 11th in the discus (35.48m).

Junior Nick Capone (Billerica, MA) placed eighth in the shot put (12.47m), 13th in the hammer (38.25m) and 15th in the javelin (35.62m) while sophomore Sebastian Bilenschuk (Mansfield, MA) tallied 10th in both the discus (35.52m) and the hammer (39.72m).

Sophomore Connor Greene (Blackstone, MA) tossed eighth in the javelin (44.71m) followed by freshmen teammates Josh Saunders and Aaron Correia (Fall River, MA) who were 10th (39.84m) and 16th (34.85m), respectively.

Freshman Steve Fleming (Ludlow, MA) cleared 10th in the pole vault (3.25m) and sophomore Shawn McCabe (Mansfield, MA) was also 12th in the shot put (11.66m)

The distance group was led by freshmen teammates Neil Reilly (Oxford, MA) and Pat Daley (Millbury, MA) who placed 14th (16:48.30) and 15th (16:53.92), respectively, in the 5,000 meter run.

The Lancers will hit the track again next Saturday at the Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College.
