Worcester State Men’s Cross County Gets First Look at MASCAC Championship Defense

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men's Cross-Country team traveled out to Stanley Park for a prep face for the MASCAC Championship at the end of the month, this afternoon squaring up against a wide range of opponents. The team had a strong showing on the afternoon as they got the first look at the course that will see them defending their championship.

The Lancers were led by first year James Riley (Shrewsbury, MA), who for a consecutive race in a row, set a new personal record on the course with a time of 28:06.04 and came in 69 out of the field of 181 runner at the meet. Following a close second on the team was first year Alexander Lucier (Gardner, MA) who beat his time from last week, to record his own personal best, with a finish of 29:32.39. Coming in three and four spots overall behind Lucier, and with 5 seconds separating them, was senior Ethan Goodreau (Spencer, MA) and Sophomore Matthew Talbot (Belchertown, MA) with times of 29:37.96 and 29:42.47, a personal best for Talbot. Closing out the final finish for team scoring was senior Elias Boone (Littleton, MA) with a time of 30:18.95.

Additional Worcester State racers on the afternoon were first years Will Demers (Sutton, MA) with a time of 30:36.02, Alexander Matasuyasu (Newton, MA) and senior Daniel Clark (Worcester, MA) with times of 30:40.31 and 30:58.35.

The Worcester State Men's Cross-Country team is back on the course October 15 at the Connecticut College Invitational.
