Mahoney Leads Lancers to Fifth Place Finish at MASCAC Championship

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men's Cross Country team, after a season of training and dedication, competed in the MASCAC Championship today. Led by sophomore Kelan Mahoney (Oakham, MA) the Lancers recorded 128 points on the day to finish 5th at the meet.

 

Mahoney would claim the 22nd spot with a brisk 28:39.15 and sticking with the trend all season, the next three finishers behind Mahoney were all within just about a minute of that time. First year Dan Smith (Medway, MA) crossed in 24th at 28:51.70 with junior Alexander Lucier (Gardner, MA) in 32nd at 29:48.87. Chasing Lucier's heels was senior Matt Talbot (Belchertown, MA) in 33rd with a time of 29:49.74. Sophomore Jacksen Bolduc (Auburn, MA) would claim 39th with a time of 30:21.47, just seconds ahead of junior Alex Matsuyasu (Newton, MA), who recorded a time of 30:37.64. Just a breadth behind was junior Andrew Stokes (Wilmington, MA) in 45th who claimed a finishing time of 30:38.10. Rounding out the race for the Lancers was first year Ryan Brown (Salem, MA)  in 59th in a marked time of 32:52.05.

 

Worcester State will return to action on November 16th to compete in NCAA DIII regionals in a bid for qualification to the NCAA tournament.
