Worcester, MA- The Lancers Women's Basketball team faced a tough task this afternoon, as they ventured to Bridgewater State to take on the first-place Bears.
Bridgewater State lived up to their reputation, surging to a 27-14 lead in the first quarter, and keeping stride in the second as they led 43-24 at the half. The Lancers would show a little life in the third quarter, outscoring Bridgewater State during the 10-minute period and closing the gap between the two teams. But it wasn't enough to pull ahead, and a strong fourth quarter from the Bears sealed the deal. BSU came out on top by a score of 88-63.
Worcester State was led by junior Katie Hurynowicz (Tyngsboro, Mass.) scored 14 points while Junior Nyah Thomas (Attleboro, Mass.) paced the Lancers with seven boards.
Worcester State is now 4-4 in the MASCAC as the Bears improve to a league-best 8-1. The Lancers will get back on the hardwood Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. to take on Westfield State.
