Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Lancers (0-2, 0-0 MASCAC) tipped off against the Clark Cougars (0-1, 0-0 GNAC) in the consolation game of the Worcester City Tournament hosted by Worcester St.

FIRST HALF:

The first half saw the Lancers down 19-14 to Anna Maria after the first quarter. The second quarter was a different story as Worcester settled in and found a groove, tying the game 35-35 at the end of the half. The blue & gold out scored Anna Maria 21-16 in the second quarter. 

AMCATS senior Gina Parmenter (Oxford, MA) led all scorers with 15 points. Marinique Reddin (Tampa, FL) led her team in rebounds with five, as she also added six points to her stat line. 

Senior Katie Hurynowixz (Tyngsboro, MA) scored seven points and seven rebounds in the half. First-year Lena Waldron (Quincy, MA) also had seven points. 

SECOND HALF:

The Lancer defense held Anna Maria to only seven points in the third quarter while scoring 22 points to pull away. 

The AMCATS outscored the Lancers 18-15 in the fourth, but it wasn't enough to counter the third quarter offensive attack from Worcester. 

The blue and gold had four double digit scorers to finish the game. Junior forward Abby St. Martin (Putnam, CT) led Worcester scorers with 16 points while nabbing five rebounds. Waldron and senior guard Nyah Thomas (Attleboro, MA) each had 13 points. Hurynowicz finished the night with a monster stat line of 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists. First-year center Alana Smith (Chicopee, MA) brought down 10 rebounds in the game. 

Parmenter kept her status of leading scorer on the night finishing with 19 points and 5 rebounds. Reddin hauled in a team high nine rebounds. 

With the win, the Lancers improve to (1-2, 0-0 MASCAC) as Anna Maria drops to (0-2, 0-0 GNAC). 

The next game for Worcester St. will be Friday, November 17th at Marymount (Va.) in the Pablo Coto Tip-Off Tournament.
