Women's Lacrosses Gets Back To Winning Ways with 17-2 Victory over Elms

Worcester, MA - The Worcester State College women's lacrosse team got back on track Thursday evening at Coughlin Field defeating the visiting Elms College Blazers by the final score of, 17-2, in New England Woman's Lacrosse Alliance action.  The win improves Worcester State to 4-1 (2-1 NEWLA) while Elms drops to 2-4 (1-3 NEWLA).

The Lancers jumped out to a, 2-0, lead in the first 1:24 of the game on goals by Brittany Jamieson (Foxboro, MA) and Shannon Feeley (W. Springfield, MA).  Elms answered back on a tally by senior Caitlin Childs (Hingham, MA).  But the Lancers took over after that scoring 7 straight goals to take a, 10-1, lead into intermission.  The Lancers got two more in the run from Feeley completing the hat trick for the half.  Other scorers included Colleen Manning (Plainville, MA) with a pair and single strikes by Angela Johnson (Ashby, MA), Megan Rosborough (Uxbridge, MA), Abby Cosenza (Shrewsbury, MA) and Jamieson with her second of the half.

The Lancers continued to control play throughout the second half as well.  Two goals from Kim Cosenza (Fitchburg, MA) and Abby Cosenza to go along with single tallies by Feeley, Lauren Moore (Brimfield, MA) and Carley MacIntyre (Townsend, MA) rounded out the Lancer scoring on the day.  Elms' Carrie Allard (Springfield, MA) scored the lone second half goal for the Blazers.

Jamieson led all scorers with 2 goals and 3 assists.  Feeley and Abby Cosenza followed with 4 points each to pace the Lancer attack.

Worcester State's Lyndsey Nunes (W. Springfield, MA) made 6 saves on the day to get her 4th win of the year.  Elms keeper Alicia Bobbie (Higganum, CT) stopped 16 shots in the loss. 

Worcester State will return to action next Tuesday when they host the Fitchburg State College Falcons.  Elms will host Castleton State on Sunday.
