Women’s Lacrosse Chosen for ECAC New England Tournament

Worcester, MA --- The Worcester State College women's lacrosse team has been selected for their fourth straight Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) New England Tournament game and as the seventh seed the Lancers will face off against #2 Emerson on Wednesday at 3:30.

Should WSC win the contest they will advance to the semifinals to face-off against #3 Castleton or sixth-seeded Curry. Top seeded Roger Williams received a first-round bye and they will play either #4 WNEC or #5 New England College in the other semifinal round on Saturday.

The Lancers are 5-2 all-time against Emerson, playing the Lions in every year the sport has been in existence, which includes a 15-7 setback earlier this season. Emerson won the GNAC this season and they were also 6-0 in conference play. The Lions come into the contest as winners of 11 straight.

Worcester State is 1-3 in ECAC tournament play with their lone win coming in 2007 against Keene State in the quarterfinal round in an 11-9 victory. WSC ended their season at 7-6 overall with a 4-3 mark in NEWLA play under third year head coach Deb Draper.

The Lancers were bounced in the NEWLA Tournament semifinals by Bridgewater State last week.
