Women's Lacrosse Claims 20-7 Triumph Over Framingham State

 

Framingham, MA --- The Worcester State netted eight of the game's first nine goals to open a commanding lead that they would not relinquish as they defeated Framingham State, 20-7, this afternoon in MASCAC women's lacrosse action this afternoon at Maple Street Field.  

With the win, the Lancers improve their season mark to 8-3 overall and are now 1-2 in the conference, while the Rams fall to 1-9 overall and 1-3 in the MASCAC.

Sophomore Molly Kilday (Westford, MA) led the Lancers with seven points in the game on three goals - including a pair of free position shots - and four assists. Freshman Jackie Connors (Ashland, MA) chipped in with five points on a game-best five markers to go along with six ground balls and six draw controls. 

Sophomore Jaclyn Lawlor (Westford, MA) and freshman Kalia Chase (Northbridge, MA) each chipped in with three points. Chase tallied three goals and Lawlor a goal and a pair of helpers.

The Rams were led by a pair of goals apiece from freshman Amanda Geary (Marlboro, MA) and senior Heather Masse (Billerica, MA) while sophomore Ashley Holmes (E. Sandwich, MA) also chipped in two points on a goal and an assist. 

Worcester State outshot the Rams, 25-16, in the game including a 20-7 edge in the first half as the visitors built a 15-3 lead at the break. Connors and Kilday staked the Lancers a 2-0 lead just under five minutes into the game.

Masse cut the lead in half with her first of the game, but the Lancers rattled off five in a row and closed the half on a 7-0 run to put the game out of reach.

Freshman Alysha Cericola (Waltham, MA) made four stops for the Rams while senior Alex Chisholm (N. Brookfield, MA) picked up the win for the Lancers making seven saves.

The Rams are back in action on Thursday with a non-conference game at Curry College at 6:30 as the Lancers host Gordon on Thursday evening at 7 PM.
