Worcester, MA --- Senior Tiffany Rotatori (Auburn, MA) tallied a pair of goals to help propel Worcester State College, 3-0, over visiting Johnson & Wales this evening in non-conference women's soccer action. The Lancers improve their record to 8-5-1 while the Wildcats fall to 9-7-1.
WSC led Johnson & Wales in shots 34-9, which included a 19-2 advantage in the second half. The Blue and Gold also led in corners, 4-3.
Rotatori put the Lancers up 2-0 in the first stanza when she netted an unassisted marker in the fourth minute and scored on a cross from junior Brittany Jamieson (Foxboro, MA) in the 30th.
Senior Amanda Beaudet (Auburn, MA) added to the lead with her third goal of the season when she hit a tricky shot went into the net off of the right post.
Lancer sophomore Rachael Armenti (W. Boyston, MA) recorded her MASCAC second-best fourth shutout with four saves. Wildcat sophomore Kory Blythe (Fall River, MA) was outstanding as she made 15 stops, which included 11 in the second half, in 77:09 minutes. Blythe gave way to classmate Jennifer Hurley (Freeport, NY), who was not called upon to make a save in her 13 minutes of play.
Both teams will play conference opponents on Saturday. Worcester State will head to Buzzards Bay to face Mass Maritime at 10 AM while Johnson and Wales will end the regular season entertaining Norwich at 1.
