Armenti Selected MASCAC Women’s Soccer Player of the Week

Buzzards Bay, MA --- For the second time this season junior keeper Rachael Armenti has received the nod as MASCAC Women’s Soccer Player of the Week after her performance in a 2-0 week for Worcester State.

Armenti, who hails from West Boylston, MA (Holy Name), posted a pair of shutout victories as she stopped all 22 shots she saw on goal this past week. Armenti started things off with eight saves in a 1-0 triumph over UMass Dartmouth before she capped off the week with a career-best 14 stops in a 2-0 win over Salem State.

Armenti has had an outstanding regular season as she is currently second in the MASCAC in save percentage (.892) while she is also third with 107 saves. Armenti has also notched seven shutouts this year which have included three in conference play.

Armenti started the season allowing 12 goals in her first eight games for a 1.50 Goals Against Average. In her last seven games between the pipes Armenti has been solid as she has permitted just one tally to lower her GAA to a MASCAC third-best 0.82. She has given up just two markers in seven conference contests as she has helped the Lancers post an unbeaten 4-0-3 record.

Worcester State (9-5-3), the second seed in the MASCAC Tournament semifinals, will entertain #3 MCLA on Wednesday at 7 PM. The game will feature live video at www.mascac.tv.
