Women's Soccer Draws with Owls

KEENE, N.H.- Worcester State women's soccer battled to a 2-2 draw against Keene State College on Tuesday evening at Dr. Ron Butcher Field.

With the draw the Lancers move to 3-3-1 on the season, while the Owls go to 1-4-1.

The Owls had the advantage early when Raelyn Callahan (Pepperell, Mass.) got one past Ashley Spellman (Lancaster, Mass.) off a pass from Kaliana Palhof (Loudon, N.H.). The Lancers were doubled up when Kayleigh Marshall (Bow, N.H.) accepted a cross and fired it past Spellman. Worcester State headed into the locker room down 2-0.

The Lancers came out hungry in the second half when a free kick from Megan Gurlitz (Auburn, Mass.) found the head of Leah Fitzgerald (Upton, Mass.) to nab her first goal of the season and cut the deficit in half. Ali Maldonado (Rutland, Mass.) was in the right place when sailed one into the net at close range. Worcester State fought hard to come out on top, but ultimately the game finished in draw, neither team able to put one more ball in the net.

Abbie Terrinca made six saves in net for the Owls, while Spellman had eight for the Lancers.

Worcester State will be back in action on Thursday against Curry College. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
