Lancers Extended Conference Win Streak, Taking Down Rams in Shut Out Fashion

Worcester, MA- As the final two weeks of the regular season hit the schedule the Worcester State Women's Soccer team (5-5-2, 2-2,) currently sitting at .500, aim to push themselves above the threshold and grab a solid top spot as the postseason edges ever closer. Tonight the Lancers head down route 9 as they square up with the Framingham State Rams in their fifth conference game of the season.

Final

Worcester State: 1

Framingham State: 0

How it Happened:

The Rams would snag the first shot opportunities in the game within the opening seconds but sophomore Ella Gumienny (Douglas, MA)would keep her impenetrability alive, knocking away the attempts early to set the lavender the opening half of action for the Lancers. Worcester would respond with attempts of their own that failed to add a score to the board as each team looked for some needed leverage. Halfway through the first half Worcester would find the success they had been looking for as sophomore Olivia Magierowski (Brimfield, MA) would find a near repeat performance from the Lancers last game, this time connecting with fellow first year Ava Chevalier (Brimfield, MA) off a corner kick for the opening of scoring. Worcester would keep the pressure high for the remainder of the half but the Rams defense was up to the challenge, keeping Worcester out of the net and with only a 1-0 lead.

Worcester would carry a 15-5 shot lead in the half with 10 finding the frame while all five of Framingham's were on frame.

The second half ran predominantly in Worcester's favor as they looked to extend their lead. The new set Rams defense though would hold off their attempts and make a late burst at the end of the match to tie it up but Worcester would hold off the pressure to come away with the 1-0 victory.

Worcester would gain six more shot attempts in the half three on cage while Gumienny would end with six saves in the Lancers in another top performance for the sophomore.
