Donohue Paces Five Top Finishes For Women's Track At MIT Co-Ed Invitational

 

Briana Wise, Amanda Caldarone Selected MASCAC Women's Track, Field Athletes of the Week

Cambridge, MA --- Senior Erin Donohue (Saugus, MA) highlighted five first-place times for Worcester State with a time of 5:27.92 in the mile as she helped lead the women's indoor track and field team at the non-scoring MIT Co-Ed Invitational.

Other top times included senior Briana Wise (Worcester, MA/Doherty) in the 60 meters (7.89), junior Christy Deininger (N. Attleboro, MA) in the 60 meter hurdles (9.12) and sophomore Amanda Caldarone (Danvers, MA) in the long jump (17-01.50/5.22m).

Wise, Deininger, senior Nicki Lemelin (Beverly, MA) and sophomore Brittany Hodgerney (Leicester, MA) teamed for a first-place finish of 1:47.16 in the 4x200 meter relay.

Deininger added second in the 60 (7.97) while Lemelin was split seconds apart in third (8.15) and second-year Liz Bodensieck (Raynham, MA) stamped her ticket for the Division III New England Championships in fourth (8.19).  Hodgerney sprinted to seventh in the 60 with a time of 8.29.

In the 60 meter hurdles, Caldarone was third with a time of 9.59 while classmate Alexandria McMahon (E. Longmeadow, MA) was fifth (9.83) and freshman Maddison Benson (Attleboro, MA) was in sixth (9.95).

The 4x200 team of Bodensieck, junior Megan Taylor (Danvers, MA), sophomore Kim West (Harvard, MA) and freshman Emily Riehl (Trumbull, CT) clocked a solid relay of 1:50.09.

West and senior Natalie Marchi (Northbridge, MA) registered second (1:45.79) and third (1:46.15), respectively, in the 600 as third-year Ali Barrett (Higham, MA) placed third in the 3,000 (11:25.55).

Freshman Nichole Tillery (Auburn, MA) notched second in the 200 (28.52) before she notched eighth in the 60 (8.48). In the mile, sophomore Chelsey Peso (Uxbridge, MA) also recorded seventh in the mile (5:47.24).

In the field, second-year Casey Keedy (Northampton, MA) cleared third in the high jump to qualify for the Division III New England's (4-11.75/1.52m). Taylor also tallied fourth in the high jump (4-09.75/1.47m) and junior Hannah Werneth (N. Yarmouth, ME) tossed fifth in the shot put (38-01.25/11.61m).

Holden had a leap of seventh in the triple jump (31-10.75), freshman Molly Downing (Dedham, MA) chalked up tenth in the shot put (33-01.75) and McMahon had a tape-measure hurdle 12th in the long jump (14-07/4.44m).

The 4x800 meter relay team of Marchi, Peso, Donohue and junior Kelsey Cartwright (Bridgewater, MA) rounded out the standout finishers for WSU with a time of 10:35.48.

Next week the Lancers will compete at the Tufts Stampede Invitational as a warm-up to the MASCAC/Alliance Championships on February 9 at Southern Maine.
